What am I signing up for?
Design research (also called user experience research) is a broad term that encompasses many different ways of gathering information about people and how they use products. When you participate in our research, you'll be helping us make our products better by giving us feedback. We might ask you do various activities, like looking at potential designs, or going through our current products and reviewing them. We need your feedback during each step of the design process - from discovery to launch and everything in between.
Who can sign up?
As long as you're over the age of 18, you can sign up for our studies. We're looking for a wide range of people who work with data and databases - whether you have 1 year or 30 years of experience. You don't need to be a Toad or Quest customer or Toad World user to participate.
What type of research do you do?
Our studies vary based on our goals and needs, but most of our research is done remotely, so you would be taking a survey, dialing in to a web conference, or in some cases, participating in a study via a message board or online whiteboard. Sometimes, we hit the road and come to you to conduct interviews or design workshops.
Do I need to do something to get ready?
When we contact you to participate, we'll let you know if you need anything specific. For remote studies, you'll need a computer, an internet connection, a phone, and a distraction-free environment.
When will you contact me?
We'll be in touch when we're doing a study we think you might be a good fit for.
How long will each study take?
It varies by the study - some surveys only require a few minutes, longer usability studies could be an hour, and message board type studies could be even longer. But no matter what the study, there's never any obligation for you to participate.
Will you pay me to participate?
We determine incentives based on the type of study and will let you know about it up front when we contact you to participate. Incentives are not guaranteed and we reserve the right to conduct studies without offering incentives.

Are you going to spam me with sales pitches?
No! Our research database is completely separate from all other databases, so you'll only receive information from us about research studies.
